Student answer (Band 5.0)

The line graph illustraes, the average momthly change prices of copper, nickel and zinc in the of 2014.

In january, the nickel is 6% above than the copper and zinc. After the becoming yers its go to downward rate. The third month its almost at 0 stage. In the middle of the year its become reached at -3% thats were very low rate than the previous year. After that its go to upward side and at the end of the year its go to 1%.

However, other metal zinc is strat from1% in the middle of the year its almost same than the nickel at the end it is up than the rate of nickel. The copper is alost equal to the zinc in the start of the year. After coming downfall added in it but at the end its almost equal to the other metals.

overall the grapgh shows in the start of the year nickel is very increased rate as compared to the others metals, however in the last all metals are almost equal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the three metals and include some relevant trends, especially nickel’s high starting point, its sharp fall to around −3% in June, and its recovery by the end of the year. However, the account is only partial and some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate. For example, nickel ends at about 1%, not simply “upward” without specifying the timing, while zinc finishes higher, at roughly 2%. Copper also does not remain “almost equal to the other metals” at year-end: it is around 1.5%, between nickel and zinc. The overview that all metals are “almost equal” is therefore too broad. Select the main highs, lows and year-end differences, and report them more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic signposts such as “However” and “overall,” so there is some organisation. It also attempts to move through the year, particularly in the paragraph about nickel. However, the progression is not consistently clear: “After the becoming yers” and “In the middle of the year” do not identify the relevant months, and the discussion shifts between metals without a clear comparison structure. Several references, including “it” and “the rate,” are difficult to follow. Organise the report into a brief overview followed by a paragraph comparing the first half of the year and another covering later changes, using clear month references and links between series.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “downward,” “upward,” “rate,” and “almost equal,” and you attempt to describe change rather than merely list figures. However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations are inaccurate, making parts difficult to understand. Phrases such as “After the becoming yers,” “strat from1%,” and “very increased rate” do not express the intended trends naturally. Spelling errors such as “illustraes,” “momthly,” and “grapgh” also reduce clarity. Build a reliable set of trend expressions and use them in standard combinations, such as “fell to,” “recovered to,” “remained stable,” and “ended at.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to form connected sentences and use some time expressions, but the sentence structures are mostly simple and errors are frequent. Verb forms and sentence construction are often faulty, as in “After the becoming yers its go to downward rate” and “at the end its go to 1%.” Articles and comparisons are also problematic in “the nickel is 6% above than the copper and zinc,” while punctuation and sentence boundaries are inconsistent. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to recover. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, for example, “Nickel fell to around 1% in March,” and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and comparative forms before finishing.
