Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You include several relevant monthly figures, such as copper at 2% in January and nickel at 6% in January, and you note some later changes. However, the response mainly lists data rather than summarising the main features: it gives no clear overview of the metals’ overall patterns or their shared mid-year decline and recovery. The zinc account is especially incomplete, and the copper figures for May and June are reported as positive 0.5% and 1%, whereas the chart shows declines of about 0.5% in both months. The response is also 33 words below the 150-word minimum; 26 copied words from the task prompt were excluded from the count. Add an overview and select accurate comparisons across the year.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response follows a basic sequence, moving from copper to nickel and then zinc, and phrases such as “next” and “last one” give a simple sense of order. However, it is presented as one continuous block, with no clear overview or paragraphing to guide the reader. The repeated month-by-month listing makes the information difficult to compare across metals, and connectors such as “and” do not show the relationships between the main trends. Organise the answer into an introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs. Group similar movements—for example, the metals’ declines around June and their later recovery—so the progression is clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “prices,” “months,” “percentage,” and “changed,” and the reader can generally identify which metal you are describing. However, the range is narrow and repetitive, with “is” and “same” used repeatedly to report figures. Several word forms and spellings are inaccurate, including “accading,” “persantage,” and “parsantage,” which reduce precision. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “Copper prices according to all months” and “has been changed every months.” Build a more varied set of accurate trend terms, such as “rose,” “fell,” “remained stable,” and “recovered,” and use standard forms such as “percentage change” and “monthly figures.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response attempts simple reporting clauses and some longer sequences, but sentence structures are mostly repetitive and control is limited. Errors in agreement and sentence construction appear in phrases such as “Copper prices … is” and “zinc prices has been changed.” Articles and prepositions are also missing or awkward, as in “in J” and “in months 6%.” Punctuation and spacing make the opening difficult to read: the task statement runs directly into the next sentence, and several figures are joined with commas without clear sentence boundaries. Use complete sentences with a consistent pattern, for example, “Copper rose by 2% in January, then fell to 1% in February,” and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
