Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the three metals and give a broad overview that nickel had the largest changes while copper was generally lowest. You also report several relevant movements, including nickel’s sharp fall and zinc’s rise at the end. However, the account is only partially accurate: nickel begins at about 6%, not “60%,” and it does not decline continuously, since it rises from around -1% in July–September to 1% in November. Copper does not “significantly improve 3%”; it moves from about 2% in January to around -0.5% in May and June. The response also contains only 145 words, below the required 150. Include a clearer overview of the mid-year falls and year-end recovery, and check figures against the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, detail paragraphs and a concluding summary. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Looking at the details” and “In summary” signal the stages of the report. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is not always clear. The nickel, zinc and copper descriptions are separated, but several sentences combine multiple movements without precise links, while “Turning the last point” is an unclear transition. The final summary repeats the overview rather than adding a useful comparison. Use a consistent chronological structure or group the metals by shared patterns, and connect changes with accurate markers such as “after falling to a low in June” and “before recovering in November.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “monthly change,” “decline,” “rise” and “percentage,” so the general subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate enough to make parts awkward or unclear: “first highest proportion,” “accounted of second place,” “priceing,” and “price chane.” “Continusly” is also misspelled, and “significantly improve 3%” does not clearly express the size or direction of the change. Aim for standard graph-reporting collocations and precise verbs, such as “recorded the largest monthly change,” “fell steadily,” and “recovered.” Check spelling and avoid repeating “price change” when a more specific term such as “monthly movement” or “percentage change” is suitable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, sentence structures are often faulty, especially when clauses are joined: “Overall it is clear that ,Nickel is…” and “Zink is the second place accounted in price chart” lack reliable grammatical construction. Verb forms and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “Nickel beguning year reached” and “Copper is last percentage.” Articles, punctuation and spacing are frequently missing or misplaced, making sentence boundaries difficult to identify. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences first, then add one accurate comparison or time clause. For example: “Nickel began the year at 6%, then fell sharply to -3% in June.” Use commas and full stops consistently, and check tense and article use before submitting.
