Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the three metals and include several relevant figures, such as nickel’s January peak of about 6% and its fall to around -3% in June. However, the response only partially summarises the graph: it gives little account of the overall pattern across the year and omits important changes, including the metals’ early-year movements and their recovery in November and December. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: copper was about 0.5% in October and November, not below -1% in November, and the claim that all three metals were stable from July to September overlooks their different levels and movements. Focus on the main highs, lows and shared trends, and report comparisons precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has paragraph breaks and a broadly chronological order, moving from January to later months, so the reader can follow some of the information. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the opening paragraph is labelled “Overall” but mainly repeats introductory details, and the final sentence repeats the July-to-September point already made. Connections between ideas are sometimes awkward, as in “After five months in June,” and the sequence jumps over several months without explaining the overall trend. Organise the report into a clear introduction, an overview of the main pattern, and logically grouped details. Use linking phrases to show comparisons and changes rather than relying mainly on month-by-month transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing movement, including “plummeted,” “gradually decreased” and “steadily increased,” and the reader can generally identify the metals and percentages being discussed. However, the range and precision are limited by repeated or unsuitable expressions. “In demand” does not describe a percentage price change, while “most high” and “metals were stable” are imprecise for the data. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “diferent,” “nickle,” “feburary” and “Finaly.” Choose vocabulary that accurately describes price movements and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “rose,” “declined,” “recovered” and “remained unchanged” would make the comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer structures, but sentence forms are often faulty, and grammatical errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “as we can be seen” has an incorrect passive construction, while “most dramatically fell was nickel 6 to -3 percent reached” lacks a clear subject–verb structure. There are also problems with agreement and articles in “three kind of metals” and “the metals was constant.” Most sentences rely on simple statements or fragments rather than a controlled range of structures. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check singular/plural agreement and verb forms. For example: “Nickel fell sharply from 6% in January to -3% in June.”
