Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the three metals and include some relevant figures, such as nickel beginning at 6% and ending at about 1%, and copper finishing at around 1.5%. However, the response only minimally reports the graph’s main features. The overview says the chart shows “the highest trend, the average and the lowest trend,” but does not explain the key pattern: all three metals fell into negative monthly changes around June, then generally recovered toward the end of the year. There is also a significant series mix-up: the line starting at 1% in January and ending at 2% in December is zinc, not the “second line” as described, while copper starts at 2% and ends at 1.5%. Develop a clear overview and accurately compare the metals’ major rises and falls.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and connectors such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to link information. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview is vague, and the detail paragraph moves between metals without clearly identifying each series. Phrases such as “the second line” and “the last line” make the references difficult to follow, especially because the series are then misidentified. Some linking expressions feel repetitive or mechanical rather than showing a precise relationship between trends. Organise the body by metal or by shared stages of the year, and use the metal names consistently so the reader can follow each comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “monthly change,” “prices,” “highest,” and “rise and fall,” so the basic subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the description unclear. For example, “the graph talks about the prices” is not a natural way to describe a chart, and “dramatical changes” does not precisely convey the movement shown. There are also spelling errors such as “agverage,” “higest,” and “slighty.” Use standard trend language such as “illustrates,” “fluctuated,” “declined,” and “recovered,” and check spelling carefully. Naming each metal is more precise than referring to it as a “line.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “but,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and sentence construction are frequent: “Nickel is has the highest price,” “it falls on 1,” and “it rise only 2” contain faulty verb patterns or agreement. The sentence beginning “In addition, the graph demonstrates that in the month of january” is also broken by a full stop before its main clause, while “which starts from 1 in january and it slighty changes” has an unclear structure. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Practise complete sentence patterns, consistent past-tense reporting, and subject–verb agreement; then proofread punctuation and articles.
