Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify all three metals and include some relevant figures, such as nickel beginning at 6 and ending at 1, and copper reaching about 1.5 in December. However, the account only partially captures the main trends, and the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate. Copper did not decrease continuously until June: it fell to around 0.5 by March, stayed there in April, and was negative in May and June. Zinc also did not simply decline throughout the year; it rose in February, fell to October, then recovered to 2 in December. The conclusion that all metals decreased every month conflicts with the data. Select the main overall pattern—sharp early fluctuations, mid-year falls, and late-year recovery—and support it with accurate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction to separate comments on copper, nickel and zinc, followed by a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within the paragraphs is often difficult to follow, and linking language is repetitive or awkward. For example, “after this month” and “at the end of the year” do not clearly connect the stages of the trends, while “In the conclusion” is repeated within the final paragraph. The opening also repeats the task rather than establishing a concise overview. Grouping the metals by shared patterns, and using clear time markers such as “from January to June” and “in the final two months,” would make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “line graph,” “decreased,” “increased” and “reached,” so the reader can recognise that you are describing price movements. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For instance, “the information of three metals features change the price” and “highly down change the price” are not natural ways to describe the data. “Price” and “change” are repeated frequently, and “nickle” is misspelled. Use precise terms for movement and comparison, such as “fell,” “fluctuated,” “remained stable” and “recovered,” while checking spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make relationships between events unclear. For example, “the copper was started from 2 next month in feburary price of copper decreased” lacks clear sentence boundaries and has incorrect verb construction. In “the price continue decreased every month,” the verb form is also inaccurate. Articles, agreement and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “the price of metals decreased every month but zinc slightly increased of the year.” Most sentences rely on simple clauses joined together, with little accurate control of more varied structures. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then practise accurate past-tense forms and clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
