Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding marital status is a bit simplistic, and the conclusion is abrupt and fails to fully restate the position or summarize the main points effectively. To achieve a higher band, you should expand on your reasoning with more nuanced examples and ensure your conclusion provides a clear, comprehensive summary of your stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in the argument. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'these information' (which is grammatically incorrect) to refer back to previous points. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring better flow between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common phrases and make several word-choice errors, such as 'getting hired... becoming hard' instead of 'becoming more difficult' and 'big companies in abroad' instead of 'companies abroad'. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'experienced' used as a noun instead of 'experience'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accurate word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently omit articles (e.g., 'in job application') and struggle with subject-verb agreement and pluralization (e.g., 'these information', 'employer can assigned'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and incorrect capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and article usage, will significantly improve your writing.
