Student answer (Band 6.5)

Many interviewers, these days, ask personal questions to candidates such as things they enjoy doing the most and their key interest areas or if they are single or in a relationship. Many people believe that this information is useful while others disagree. In my opinion, such kind of information is not essential to be ask. So, In the upcoming paragraphs, I am going to discuss both the statements to make it more clear.

To begin with, asking personal information can help the employer to learn about the field of interest the interviewee has, which an employer can use to analyze whether the candidate is perfect for the hiring position or not. For instance, if a person likes to dance, play games and watching cartoons can be an ideal early childhood educator as he/she is enjoying doing these activities and asking such questions can prove to be helpful to choose excellent candidate for the position.

On the other hand, there are many people who thinks completely different to the above mentioned scenario. According to them, such kind of information can not prove the ability or efficiency of any person. To elaborate, if a person has masculine body with muscles and likes doing gym does not means he can be a good model or actor but not a perfect singer. Which, sometime means, perception of something or someone can never always be true and this is what i think too.

In conclusion, for some people gathering personal data is advantageous to evaluate the exact skills required for a particular position while other believe that this can not justify with any individual's aptitude.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The example provided regarding the 'early childhood educator' is a bit simplistic, and the argument in the second body paragraph is slightly confusing, particularly the comparison between a muscular person and a singer. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced and logical explanations for your arguments. Your position is consistent throughout, which is a strength, but the supporting evidence needs more depth to fully convince the reader.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'Which, sometime means, perception of something or someone can never always be true'. The use of referencing is occasionally mechanical. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your sentences connect more naturally to one another to improve the overall flow of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'interviewers', 'candidate', and 'aptitude'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'not essential to be ask' (should be 'asked') and 'justify with any individual's aptitude'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations, and pay closer attention to word forms and grammatical accuracy when using new vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('there are many people who thinks') and incorrect verb forms ('is not essential to be ask'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without losing clarity.
