IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Employers sometimes ask people applying for jobs for personal information, such as their hobbies and interests, and whether they are married or single. Some people say that this information may be relevant and useful. Others disagree.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is debatable concern whether company owners questioning their new employees about their personal background in the interview or not. However, few people are in the favor because its is part of the selection process of the interviewers and others are disregarded say that its Irrelevant. In this essay, i will discuss both these views with example in upcoming paragraphs.

People who are in the favor of first notion they believe that every company want to know about their full detailed of employees background both professional as well as personal choices. In addition, If company organizer have know about their workers behaviour they can select and give task according. For instance , if workers have a married they need to finish work on time and also they first preferences day shift so that they can manage work life balance. Moreover, choices of work , if workers interested in travelling they prefer attending meeting in different places.

On the other hand, people who think that knowing about employees personal matter is not reliable for company because company want workers who can manage company tasks.

Paragraphing is present but the content within the paragraphs is too sparse to demonstrate effective management of cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'debatable concern' instead of 'debatable issue' and 'company organizer' instead of 'employer' or 'recruiter'. The student struggles to express complex ideas due to a restricted range of vocabulary. Phrases like 'in the favor' and 'full detailed of employees background' demonstrate a lack of precision and control over lexical items, which occasionally makes the meaning difficult to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('every company want'), article usage, and sentence structure ('if workers have a married'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. These persistent errors in basic grammar significantly detract from the clarity of the writing.
