Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many employer ask job applicant for their personal information like their hobbies, interests and marital status. Some people believe that this information can be useful when choosing employees, while other think it is unnecessary. In my opinion, having good skills and abilities of an applicant is fine for their particular job which require this skills, but at other side getting someone personal information as marital or single sometime leads to be false narrative for that employer.
Firstly, people who wants to work at restaurant , gym, or retail store they have abilities that match to the requirements for a job and for that employer can ask for interest or hobbies so that they can decide it to offer a job. For example, if a person mention his good communication skills or he has strong background in sports, so definately he has more chances to get that job. Therefore, mentioning about their personal growth and interest making them more beneficial.
However, some people think that if they mention about their status such as married or single they can face problems such as inequality or sometime offense . For instance, whether someone is married or single does not show their qualifications, work experience or work performance. Asking for marital status leads to unfair decisions. Employer should be focus on person ability, skills and experience to perform duties of the position.
In conclusion, personal information such as hobbies and interest can sometime provide helpful information about job applicant, I believe that private details should not be requested. Employer should make sure that they have to focus on person skills, abilities and experiences when selecting employees.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the link between hobbies and soft skills, and the potential for discrimination regarding marital status. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding hobbies could be further extended with more specific examples of how they translate to workplace success. The position is consistent throughout, but the explanation of why marital status is irrelevant could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'However', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'but at other side' in the introduction. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but these are sometimes used inaccurately, such as 'false narrative' or 'sometime offense'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'getting someone personal information' instead of 'collecting' or 'requesting'. While the range is sufficient to communicate the main points, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Many employer ask', 'people who wants'), article usage ('the requirements for a job'), and pluralization ('this skills'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater precision.
