IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Employers sometimes ask people applying for jobs for personal information, such as their hobbies and interests, and whether they are married or single. Some people say that this information may be relevant and useful. Others disagree.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The personal information is asked in performas which every employee has to fill once he is applying for a new job. It is observed by some people that this type of information is useful to be provided others are not in this favour. I absolutely agree to provide such information because of various factors.
There is a section in a biodata form in which any employee has to mention his marrital status, hobbies, interests and medical conditions. The provision of personal information to a company once employee is going to start a job is an essential criteria because the company can assess the person's capabilities to select him. Moreover, employee would be able to take benefits of different insurances.
Sometimes, this biodata form is very helpful in medicolegal cases. The employers are engaged in different projects related to their specific hobbies, ultimately these are resposible for their company's prosperity.
On the other hand, the company should not have any interest in the personal life af any employee, either he is married or unmarried. The company must invovle the workers in different projects and pay them timely. Workload should not be on the basis of marrital status. it will effect the mental health of an employee.The hobbies and interests of an employee is not relevant to the company.
In the end, i absolutely agree with the statement to share the personal information as this biodata will help the company to flourish by keeping their employees busy in different tasks which are related to their hobbies or interests.The employers could be given home task as they are unmarried and they have the opportunity to move ahead in a short time.
