Student answer (Band 6.0)

Undoubtedly, Most of the companies follow different hiring criterias depending upon the job titles. Sometimes, employers ask about the marital status or passion and interest of the employee. Some people believe that this information is useful for the company, while other oppose that. I partially agree with the aforementioned statement and i will expatiate the reason the support this arguement.

Admittedly, there are numerous reasons to support the statement that asking about the marital staus is imperative during the hiring process. To be more precise, if s peson is married there are more chances, that employee will have personal obligations and commintments ot fullfill owing to which expecting over time from that person is not possible. For instance, according to survey in a campany, single employees are less reluctant to work extra hours as compared to married employees.

Moreover. asking employee about their passion and interest is also very imperative in hiring process. More the person will be passionate about the job, more the chances of perfoming well in the job. for example, if a person does not have any interest in interacting with people, there are very less chances that person is suitable fit for customer service job.

On the contrary, there are certain job positions, in which marrital status or interest does not matter. There are some situations in which a person have to work to fullfil their rudimentory needs owing to which they are ready to work in any field with extra hours. In addition, jobs which provide flexible schedule or work from home does not requires to know about the marital status of a person .

It can be concluded that, albeit knowing about employers interest and personal life could be iimportant for certains job positions but this ideas is not suitable for every job postions. These questions needs to used according to the job position and the requirements.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether employers should ask for personal information such as hobbies, marital status, or interests, and clearly states the writer's own partial position in the introduction. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as exploring how marital status relates to personal obligations and overtime, and how passion impacts job performance in customer service. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or lean slightly repetitive towards the conclusion. The progression of ideas is logical and supports the overall stance effectively, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0. Given the depth of development and clear positioning, a band score of 6.5 is well-earned.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The text is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus, starting with an introduction, moving to supporting arguments for both sides, and finishing with a cohesive conclusion. Transitional phrases such as 'Admittedly', 'Moreover', and 'On the contrary' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, referencing and punctuation occasionally falter, seen in minor mechanical issues like 'Moreover.' with a full stop instead of a comma, and slight awkwardness in paragraph transitions. Paragraphing is used appropriately overall, and the logical progression between ideas is clear, aligning comfortably with the Band 6.0 to 6.5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'expatiate', 'imperative', 'rudimentary', and 'obligations'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the essay, including 'criterias' instead of 'criteria', 'staus' instead of 'status', 'commintments ot fullfill' instead of 'commitments to fulfil', and 'marrital' instead of 'marital'. While these errors do not severely impede communication and the intended meaning remains clear, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies prevents the score from reaching higher bands. The student has the right concepts but needs better control over word forms and spelling precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting conditional structures and relative clauses (e.g., 'if a person does not have any interest...'). There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, such as 'Undoubtedly, Most of the companies', uncapitalised pronouns ('i will expatiate'), missing articles ('according to survey in a campany'), and awkward phrasing ('does not requires to know'). Although these errors occur regularly across the text, the meaning is generally decipherable and communication is rarely impeded. This performance fits the criteria for Band 6, which highlights a mix of sentence forms alongside persistent grammatical errors.
