Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that employers sometimes ask for personal information about their likes, interests and also about their marital status from people who are applying for job. While, others disagree from this view. In my opinion it is good to ask these personal questions because it helps employer to assign task according to person interests and also helps to adjust their time according to their family responsibilities.

On one hand, some people think that it is very crucial to take some personal details because it helps the employer to give you a work according to your interests and availability. Moreover, every employee has different interest like some take interest in doing academic and some are interested in doing non-teaching jobs like as a clinician and data operator. Additionally, it also facilitate employees to adjust their job time according to worker needs. For example, few companies make timetable according to the persons family responsibilities than it would leads to more productivity in the outcome of organization.

On the other hand, some people are not agree with this view, and they believe that It would leads to negative consequences like some time their personal detail would be misuse by employer itself after having a dispute with their workers and results in development of bad relationship between them. For instances, some companies do not have strict rules about the client personal details and when they have any dispute with any worker results in breach their confidential personal details.

In conclusion, I agree with the view that, it is good to ask about their hobbies, interests and marital status because it results in development of company after assigning task according to their needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state your own position clearly: you support asking about interests and marital status because this may help with task allocation and scheduling. The examples about employees’ different interests and family responsibilities are relevant. You also present a counterargument about misuse of personal details and damaged employer–employee relationships. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits are explained more fully, while the privacy concern is mostly asserted, and the example about companies lacking rules could be clarified. To strengthen the response, explain when personal information is genuinely relevant to a job and distinguish that from details that should remain private.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. The signposts “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the discussion, and examples are placed alongside the relevant points. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, however. For instance, “For example, few companies make timetable according to the persons family responsibilities than it would leads…” does not clearly show how the example supports the preceding claim. The conclusion also repeats the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and pronouns with unmistakable references, and make the final paragraph briefly acknowledge the privacy concern as well as your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss employment and privacy, including “marital status,” “family responsibilities,” “productivity,” and “confidential personal details.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “take interest in doing academic,” “non-teaching jobs like as a clinician,” and “development of company.” Repetition of “personal,” “interests,” and “helps” also limits flexibility. Aim for more natural combinations and precise terms—for example, describe employees’ “areas of interest” or “scheduling needs.” Check word forms and spelling as well, including “misuse” in this context and “instances” where you mean “instance.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while,” and “when,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “it also facilitate” instead of “it also facilitates,” “some people are not agree” instead of “some people do not agree,” and “it would leads” instead of “it would lead.” The sentence beginning “For example, few companies make timetable…” also combines clauses without a clear grammatical link. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and modal verb patterns, and divide long sentences when their relationships are difficult to control. More accurate complex sentences would improve clarity.
