Student answer (Band 6.0)
Sometimes employers take interest in the personal habits of the employees during the hiring process even asked about their marital status. Some people believe that they should ask about relevent and useful informations, unlike personal information. I think asking about their interest, enable the managers to understand their new workers personality, only if they are not oversteping personal boundaries.
To begin with, finding out about workers interest and hobbies, will explain a lot about their personality. For example, if their hobbies related to team sports, show that candidates can work with others and interests can reveal whether someone is creative, disciplined, or motivated. Moreover, employers can also learn about their communication skills through this process and how much they can socialised with others as well as do they able to participate in the meetings and debates at workplace.
On the other hand, due to privacy, some people feels uncomfortable when someone ask about their martial status, and this think can create issues at workplace. Furthermore, education, qualifications and work experience are better indicators of suitability instead of personal information because without these skills and abilities worker are not suitable for the particular role.
In my opinion, people asked about their hobbies and interest if they are relevent to the job such as photography for a media position and writing an artical for news. volunteer may have strong communication and social skills that are useful in customer service.
In conculsion, based on the aforementioned reasons, managers should ask personal questions if they are relevant to job and useful in the workplace, otherwise it is a waste of time and also invasion of privacy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear conditional opinion: employers may ask about interests when these relate to the role, but should respect privacy. The examples of team sports, photography for media work, and volunteering in customer service make the discussion relevant. This covers the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally. The benefits of hobbies are explained through several possible traits, while the case for asking about marital status is mainly that it can cause discomfort; explain more directly why some employers might consider it useful, then weigh that against privacy and fairness. The point about qualifications is relevant, but its connection to the opposing view could be made clearer. More balanced development would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression. The main ideas are generally grouped appropriately, and the conclusion reflects your position. However, some connections within paragraphs are abrupt or unclear. For example, the sentence about communication skills moves quickly from employers learning about candidates to their ability to participate in meetings, without fully explaining the link. The opinion paragraph also introduces examples without clearly connecting each one to your condition that questions should be job-related. Use clearer referencing and explain how each example supports the point, rather than relying mainly on signposting phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “marital status,” “privacy,” “qualifications,” “suitability,” and “communication skills.” These choices help convey the main ideas, and examples such as “team sports” and “customer service” are appropriate. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “relevent,” “oversteping,” “martial status,” “artical,” and “conculsion” appear in the response. Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “personal habits” for the information described and “this think can create issues.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and avoid repeating broad terms such as “personal information” when a more specific phrase would clarify your meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional phrasing in “only if they are not…” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, errors in sentence construction and agreement are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “finding out about workers interest and hobbies, will explain” has an unnecessary comma and an unclear subject, while “if their hobbies related to team sports, show” lacks a complete grammatical structure. There are also errors in questions embedded in statements, as in “how much they can socialised” and “do they able.” Work on complete clauses, subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and articles. Proofreading each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb would improve accuracy and readability.
