Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: identifying the location of the papers, explaining their importance, and requesting action. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though it lacks some of the conventional politeness markers expected in professional correspondence. To improve, you should expand on the details—for example, describing the appearance of the folder or the specific nature of the documents—to ensure the word count is met and the request is more persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter follows a logical sequence, moving from the purpose of the letter to the details of the incident and finally the request. However, the paragraphing is non-existent, which makes the text appear as a single block. Using clear paragraph breaks for the introduction, body, and conclusion would significantly improve the structure. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is limited; the sentences are often short and choppy. Using linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'therefore' would help the ideas flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is functional but basic. You rely on simple verbs like 'grab' and 'get', which are not ideal for a formal request to a hotel manager. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'At morning' instead of 'In the morning' and 'get back from you' instead of 'hear back from you'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise, formal vocabulary related to business or travel contexts to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing) and prepositions. For example, 'I am writing to you about I left' should be 'I am writing to inform you that I left'. There are also issues with sentence structure, such as 'If u get that papers', where the informal 'u' should be avoided in formal writing. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction.
