IELTS Writing Task 1 question

Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter

• say where you think you left the papers
• explain why they are so important
• tell the manager what you want him/her to do

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing to inquire about some papers left at your property during my stay on 12th july 2026. I had a conference in Douglas Hall, afterwards the meeting I went back to the room than I came to the reception for checkout.

I realised the next morning when I went to work. I needed that report but it was missing from my bag. These documents are highly confidential. It contain details of our new product to be launched in few months it's under testing. It is significantly important for us can we can not afford to lose it.

I have a request if you can make one of your staff go to the room and collect the report. I will be flying back tomorrow as we need this paperwork, till than if you can retain it in your custody and return it to me upon my arrival on 15 july 2026.
