You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 8.0)

My name is Jay and I stayed at your hotel when I visited Delhi. I would like to draw your kind attention to a significant matter. While I stayed there, I had some important documents with me and I placed them in a safe located in mu suite. I am positive that it should be at the same place unless someone from the hotel staff have found them. The papers contains my birth certificate and other property related documents. It would be really helpful if you can send them to my address via speed post. If that is not the option, please keep them aside and I will arrange the pickup through one of my family members.

I will be more than willing to provide my Identity document for verification purposes and fulfill any standard procedure your hotel may have for the forgotten items.

I will appreciate your attention towards this matter and anticipate your positive response.

Thank you,

Jay Solanki

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.5

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: you identified the location of the papers (the safe in your suite), explained their importance (birth certificate and property documents), and provided clear instructions for their retrieval. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a hotel manager. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the urgency and the specific nature of the request. You have successfully fulfilled all requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You have used appropriate paragraphing to separate the issue from the proposed solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'If that is not the option' and 'for verification purposes' are used effectively to link sentences. The flow is natural, and the reader can easily follow your request from start to finish. The structure is professional and adheres to standard formal letter conventions.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly and professionally. Phrases like 'draw your kind attention' and 'anticipate your positive response' are well-suited for this formal context. There are no significant errors in word choice that impede communication. While the vocabulary is functional and accurate, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations could elevate the response further, but the current range is more than adequate for a Band 7 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures with generally good control. However, there are a few minor grammatical slips, such as 'unless someone from the hotel staff have found them' (should be 'has found' to agree with the singular 'someone') and 'The papers contains' (should be 'contain'). Despite these occasional errors, your meaning is always clear, and the majority of your sentences are error-free. The punctuation is accurate throughout the letter.
