Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: the location of the papers, their importance, and the requested action. However, the tone is inconsistent and informal for a formal letter to a hotel manager. The use of 'u' instead of 'you' is inappropriate for a formal task. While the ideas are relevant, the development is somewhat basic. For example, the explanation of why the papers are important is repetitive, stating they are 'really important' without providing a more professional context. To reach a higher band, ensure the tone remains formal throughout and expand on the details with more precision.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'Moreover' are used, but the transition between the description of the papers and the request for action is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'this papers' (plural noun with singular determiner). The overall progression of ideas is logical, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication expected at higher bands. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive language such as 'really important' and 'any kind of papers'. The use of 'u' is a significant error in register, as it is text-speak rather than formal English. There are also collocation errors, such as 'in so trouble' instead of 'in such trouble' or 'in a lot of trouble'. To improve, you should focus on using more precise professional vocabulary and avoiding informal abbreviations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I stayed in the hotel at 1 August' (should be 'on'), 'deal that I done' (should be 'did' or 'have done'), and 'I don't even have the copy of this papers' (should be 'these papers'). The punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
