Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear sir
I hope this email finds you well.
I would like to inform you that on my last visit at your hotel on Tuesday evening.I had forget some necessary documents which contains personal information including my bank and work records.
Those documents are confidential in nature as there are some personal details mentioned on it including my bank passbook and checks along with my work email and id cards. Additionally, some documents are original copies and process for getting them back is bit time consuming and could lead to some issues in my current job and leak to personal accounts.
Therefore, I would like to request you to check with your staff about those documents to avoid any issues and keep them under your supervision at reception area and I will collect from there as per your convenience.
I will appreciate your assistance and patience into this matter.
Yours sincerely
Ravi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state where the papers were left, explain their importance (confidentiality and potential job impact), and provide a clear request for the manager to secure them. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific details about the meeting room or the exact location where you were sitting to help the staff locate the items more efficiently. Overall, the task is fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each serving a clear purpose. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'Therefore' to link your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'mentioned on it' (referring to 'documents', which is plural). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring pronouns consistently match their antecedents would enhance the flow and coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'confidential', 'supervision', and 'assistance'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'I had forget' (should be 'I had forgotten') and 'process for getting them back is bit time consuming' (should be 'the process of retrieving them is somewhat time-consuming'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'on my last visit at your hotel on Tuesday evening' is a sentence fragment. There are also subject-verb agreement and tense issues, such as 'documents which contains' (should be 'contain') and 'I had forget' (should be 'I had forgotten'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after periods. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic tense consistency.
