Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the location of the papers, their importance, and the requested action. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. The explanation of the location is repetitive, and the description of the importance of the papers is slightly unclear due to grammatical issues. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is inconsistent; it shifts between formal and informal, which is not entirely appropriate for a letter to a hotel manager. To improve, ensure that the tone remains consistently professional and provide more precise details regarding the appearance of the documents to assist the manager in their search.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, 'To being with' is a grammatical error, and 'In addition that paper' lacks a proper linking structure. The transition between the explanation of the importance of the papers and the request for action is abrupt. While the overall progression is logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of referencing (e.g., 'that paper') make the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety of transition signals would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'lost in your premises' (should be 'on your premises') and 'immigration for higher education in aboard' (should be 'abroad'). The repetition of the phrase 'so important for me' suggests a limited vocabulary. While the meaning is generally clear, the student struggles to use less common lexical items effectively. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing, particularly when describing the documents and the desired outcome.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement, incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'lost at any of one area'), and missing articles. The sentence 'college do not give us second degree' is grammatically incorrect and lacks proper structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the errors do not completely prevent the message from being understood, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for article usage would be beneficial.
