Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state where the papers were left (Room 79, on the shelf of the cupboard), explain their importance (interview documents, job offer, and passport), and provide clear instructions to the manager. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening and closing could be more standard. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader is left in no doubt about the situation or the requested action. To reach a higher band, ensure that the tone remains consistently formal throughout, as some phrasing feels slightly conversational.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into three distinct paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'As I am out of town' and 'As far as I remembered'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical. For example, the transition between the description of the documents and the request to the manager could be smoother. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure supports the message effectively. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'documents', 'interview', and 'housekeepers'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'recieved joing letter' (should be 'received my job offer letter') and 'that housekeepers will not put in the garbage' (which is slightly awkward phrasing). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. Expanding your range to include more formal business-related collocations would help elevate your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing to you this letter regarding that when i left', which is syntactically cluttered. Additionally, there are punctuation and capitalization issues, such as 'AS far as I remembered' and the inconsistent use of 'i' instead of 'I'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your request. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization, and try to vary your sentence structures to avoid repetitive patterns.
