You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Hope you are doing good. I am writing this mail to ask you about my personal belonging which I forgot at your hotel.

My name is Rajkumar Patel. I was on my international trips where I had booked your hotel for 2 business days. The booking was made on my wife's name Vidhi Patel. I am here to request you something about the document which I left your hotel which was absolutely too much important for me. It was my driving license. I am still on my trip and I really need it because most of the time I have to travel by car and as per the rules and regulations, I am not able to drive it.

Can you please check cameras and anything else like ask someone who work at reception desk if any person found it and gave it to your staff and if you kept it in your forgotten items.

I hope you understand my situation and help me for my lost item. I will wait for your positive response.

Your customer,

Rajkumar Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state where you think you left the papers, explain their importance (driving license needed for your trip), and provide a clear request for action. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a hotel manager, although it leans slightly informal in places (e.g., 'Hope you are doing good'). The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the urgency of your situation. To reach a higher band, ensure the opening and closing are more standard for formal correspondence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific aspect of the task. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the request and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition between sentences could be smoother; using linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'therefore' would improve the flow. Paragraphing is present, but the structure could be more refined to separate the explanation of the problem from the specific request for assistance more distinctly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use relevant terms such as 'international trips', 'business days', and 'rules and regulations'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'my personal belonging' (should be plural 'belongings') and 'absolutely too much important' (which is unnatural; 'extremely important' or 'crucial' would be better). The vocabulary is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations will help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I was on my international trips' (should be 'trip'), 'left your hotel' (missing 'at'), and 'ask someone who work' (should be 'works'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'request you something about the document'. The errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable and occur throughout the text, which limits the score in this criterion.
