Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response fails to address the task requirements entirely. The prompt asks you to write a letter to a hotel manager regarding lost papers, explaining where they were left and why they are important. Instead, your letter focuses on a complaint about staff behavior and a suggestion box. Because you did not address the specific prompt provided, the response is off-topic. To improve, you must carefully read the instructions and ensure your content directly answers the three bullet points provided in the task prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The letter lacks paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow. There is no clear logical progression of ideas, and the text is presented as a single block. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'your hotel management' and 'your staff'. To improve, you should organize your letter into distinct paragraphs: one for the opening, one for each bullet point, and one for the closing. Using transition words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' would help connect your ideas more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You rely on basic words like 'good', 'bad', and 'well' throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'did not do well behaviour' instead of 'behaved poorly' or 'unprofessional behavior'. The spelling of 'complain' (should be 'complaint') and 'recieve' (should be 'receive') also indicates a need for improvement. To reach a higher band, try to use more precise vocabulary related to hospitality and formal letter writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammar is weak, with frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and a lack of proper punctuation (e.g., 'i hope you are fine.i want to talk...'). Capitalization is inconsistent, and there are errors in verb tense and word order, such as 'After the all changings you see the hospitality'. You should focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop, and practice subject-verb agreement.
