Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: identifying the location of the papers, explaining their importance, and requesting specific action from the manager. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the description of the backpack and the contents. While the task is fulfilled, the explanation of why the papers are important could be more concisely integrated to improve flow. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. There is a clear progression from the introduction to the problem, the explanation, and the final request. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive (e.g., the frequent use of 'In that backpack'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the shift between discussing the 'papers' and the 'backpack'. Improved use of linking words would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey the necessary information clearly. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'housekeeping department' and 'urgently'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'found and loss department' (should be 'lost and found') and 'send it by the help of parcel'. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'brith' instead of 'birth'. The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I writing this letter' (missing auxiliary verb), 'which I was accidentally forget' (incorrect passive/tense usage), and 'if you will successful to find' (incorrect adjective/verb structure). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are also inconsistent. These errors are frequent, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and verb tenses is needed.
