Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state where the papers were left, explain their importance regarding the orientation and security of the cleaning staff, and provide a clear request for the manager to secure them. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the lack of capitalization and punctuation errors slightly detract from the professional register. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical sections, moving from the problem to the explanation and finally the request. However, the paragraphing is weak; the entire body of the letter is essentially one block of text, which makes it harder to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'so' and 'also', but they are somewhat repetitive and basic. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'therefore') and ensure clear paragraph breaks between the introduction, body, and conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple phrasing such as 'important papers' and 'wrong way'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'accidently' (accidentally), 'wote' (wrote), and 'lisence' (license). While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to common, everyday words. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology related to office or hotel management and ensure accurate spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent errors in punctuation and capitalization, such as the failure to capitalize 'I' and the start of sentences. Additionally, there are grammatical slips like 'will be here in next week' (remove 'in') and 'I don't want anybody can see this' (should be 'I don't want anybody to see this'). While you use some complex sentence structures, the accuracy is inconsistent. The frequent minor errors in basic grammar and mechanics prevent the writing from reaching a higher band score.
