Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope you'r doing well. Firstly really sorry for the last minute notification, but I knew you are staying in the office till late night today.
Actually what happened, when I closed my shift today afternoon, I forgot my file in which i have my bank details and my other important documents like passport, credit and debit card. I brought these all document today for completing my hiring process. HR requested these documents, so he could add my details in my profile.
Unfortunately, i forgot that inn the meeting room today. As you know these are my personal documents, therefore I don't want to loose them for my identification. Therefore, can you please take that file from there, I will get my file back from you tomorrow. I know it seems weird to ask you for doing my things. But, nobody would be there because office closed one hour ago.
I would really appreciate your this favour and will meet you after two days off.
Your employee,
Sharan.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly identified where the papers were left (the meeting room), explained their importance (personal identification documents for a hiring process), and stated what you want the manager to do (secure the file). However, the tone is somewhat inconsistent for a formal letter to a manager, and the narrative flow is slightly cluttered by unnecessary details about your shift and the HR process. To improve, ensure the tone remains professional throughout and focus more directly on the request to the manager.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally coherent, and the message is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Actually', and 'Therefore', though some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly misused in context. Paragraphing is present, but the structure is a bit fragmented; grouping the explanation of the documents and the request for action into more distinct paragraphs would improve the flow. Referencing is generally clear, though the transition between the explanation of the documents and the request for help could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'notification', 'identification', and 'hiring process'. However, there are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'forgot my file' (should be 'left my file'), 'loose them' (should be 'lose them'), and 'doing my things' (which is informal and unnatural). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit your score. Expanding your range of formal expressions would help you achieve a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'you'r doing' (punctuation/spelling), 'I knew you are staying' (tense inconsistency), 'i forgot that inn' (capitalization and spelling), and 'appreciate your this favour' (incorrect word order). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation are noticeable. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
