Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: the location of the papers, their importance, and the requested action. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a hotel manager. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development of the 'importance' section could be slightly more sophisticated. The purpose of the letter is clear from the outset, and the reader is left in no doubt about what is required. The response is well-focused and meets all the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different points. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Due to which', and 'Hence' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The progression of ideas is clear, and the reader can easily follow the narrative from the loss of the documents to the proposed solution. Referencing is generally clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their message clearly. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'vividly remember' and 'executive plan'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'leaving time' instead of 'at the time of leaving' and 'representation slides information' which is slightly awkward. Despite these minor issues, the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the situation effectively without causing confusion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I forgot my important documents in the provided room' (should be 'left'), 'It include' (subject-verb agreement), and 'It would be great if you send' (should be 'would send'). Punctuation is generally correct, but there are some minor errors in sentence construction. These errors do not impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more consistent control over basic grammatical rules.
