Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I left a paper in my office while I am confused that either I placed those paper in my cupboard or in your locker. My best guess is a locker.
It is a significantly important and it contains a sales number and information regarding a upcoming clients under the union act which is critical to be in a safe place.
As I am not working tomorrow could you please have a peek on those papers and secure it in the private locker, so it can be in a safe place before it gets missing.
I will be back on work from Tuesday, and I will make sure it will not happens again. Also, I will leave a note in communication book.
Thankyou Chris, for your help in this matter, I really appreciate and please feel free to revert a text or a call anytime in working hours.
Best regards,
Dishant

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the location of the papers, their importance, and the requested action. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation of why the papers are important is a bit vague, and the tone is inconsistent. For instance, the opening paragraph is confusingly phrased, mentioning an 'office' and 'locker' interchangeably, which makes the situation unclear for the reader. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details and ensure the tone remains professional and consistent throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. While you use some cohesive devices, they are sometimes used incorrectly or sound unnatural, such as 'As I am not working tomorrow'. The referencing is also slightly confusing, particularly in the first paragraph where the location of the papers remains ambiguous. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear referencing would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'revert a text' (instead of 'send a text') and 'gets missing' (instead of 'goes missing'). The phrase 'sales number' is also vague. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors in word choice occasionally draw attention to themselves. Expanding your range of collocations and using more precise terminology would improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have several grammatical errors, such as 'I left a paper' (should be plural 'papers'), 'it contains a sales number' (subject-verb agreement), and 'it will not happens again' (incorrect verb form). Additionally, the use of articles and prepositions is occasionally faulty. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage would be beneficial.
