Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the task: identifying the location of the papers, explaining their importance, and requesting specific action from the manager. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the papers are for a loan application, providing a bit more detail about the urgency or the specific consequences of losing them would have strengthened the response. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the reader is left in no doubt about what is required, which satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. There is a clear progression of ideas from the initial problem to the explanation and finally the request. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the fragmented sentence 'Which was all in that envolpe that i forget in your hotel.' Additionally, the transition between sentences could be smoother. While the overall structure is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward phrasing keep this in the Band 6.0 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'checklist', 'identity proof', and 'business purpose'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'accidently', 'envolpe', 'adderess') and some awkward collocations. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common business-related terms and ensuring that words are used in their correct context. The errors present do not impede communication, which is consistent with Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'i forget' instead of 'I forgot'), missing articles, and punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in the first sentence. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, you should focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage, and proper sentence punctuation. Currently, the control of grammar is sufficient for a Band 5.5.
