Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: the location of the papers is specified, their importance is explained, and a clear request for action is made. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why the papers are important is a bit repetitive and lacks professional detail. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though some phrasing is slightly informal or awkward, such as 'Hope you are doing great'. Overall, the task is addressed, but the response would benefit from more precise language to better convey the urgency of the situation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the hotel stay and the missing papers is abrupt. There is a reliance on simple sentence structures, and the flow between ideas could be improved with better linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'therefore'). While the overall message is clear, the lack of sophisticated cohesive devices prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'house man' instead of 'housekeeping staff' or 'papers belongs to my job' instead of 'work-related documents'. The student uses basic vocabulary throughout, and there is little attempt to use less common or more sophisticated lexical items. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of minor errors in collocation suggest a limited range of vocabulary for this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('papers belongs'), tense inconsistencies ('I remember I forgot'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'While I checked out from your hotel and reached my next destination. I remember I forgot...'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on sentence boundaries and consistent verb tense usage.
