Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the bullet points by stating where the papers were left, explaining why they are important to avoid them getting mixed up, and instructing the manager to secure them. However, the tone is slightly confused as the writer addresses the manager as a colleague or subordinate ('if you are their in early morning') rather than hotel management, and the response falls short of the 150-word minimum at 142 words, leading to a minor penalty under this criterion. Overall, the ideas are relevant but slightly under-developed, aligning with Band 5.5 to 6.0, rounded to 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks proper paragraphing, as the body of the message is crammed into a single block of text followed by a run-on concluding sentence. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes misused, such as 'I beg to say' and 'But this time'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, for example, the shift between referring to 'you' as the manager and 'the next scheduled person on shift'. The overall arrangement is somewhat coherent and easy to follow, but paragraphing and mechanical cohesion are faulty. This fits the Band 5.0 descriptors well.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but highly repetitive and features noticeable errors such as 'have get' instead of 'got', 'forget' instead of 'forgot', 'tyhe' for 'the', and 'assits' for 'assist'. There are attempts at less common phrasing like 'scheduled person on shift', but word choice and collocation are frequently inaccurate ('escape to miss the papers'). These spelling and word-choice errors do not completely impede communication, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'As I was working till late night so I just forget...'. However, this sentence exhibits double marking of cause and effect ('As... so...'). There are frequent errors in tense usage ('I just want to recheck if you have get', 'I also making promise') and punctuation (missing periods at the end of sentences). While meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of grammatical errors places this text at a Band 5.0.
