Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt: you mentioned where you left the papers (room 2013 on the table beside the bed), explained why they are important (your graduation completion letter required for the PGWP), and told the manager what you want them to do (inform the staff and keep it in a safe place). However, there is a significant penalty because the response is under-length, containing only 100 words compared to the minimum requirement of 150 words. This leaves the ideas somewhat underdeveloped and stops the response from fully satisfying the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter opens with an appropriate salutation, though 'Dear Sir,' is slightly abrupt compared to 'Dear Sir or Madam,' as requested in the prompt. The overall arrangement is relatively coherent, attempting to group ideas into paragraphs corresponding to different parts of the letter. However, the paragraphing and transitions are a bit disjointed, and the text ends abruptly mid-sentence ('i will collect af'), which negatively affects the logical progression and structural integrity of the piece.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate vocabulary range to communicate basic needs, including terms like 'graduation', 'completion letter', and 'official letter'. However, there are notable word choice and spelling errors, such as 'lefted' instead of 'left', 'forget' instead of 'forgot', 'indicate' instead of 'indicates', and 'carers oppotunities' instead of 'career opportunities'. These errors demonstrate a limited control over lexical items and spelling, placing the response firmly in the band 5 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, such as the relative clause in 'my papers, which were lefted by myself'. However, there are frequent grammatical inaccuracies, including tense inconsistencies ('stayed' versus 'forget'), passive voice clumsiness ('lefted by myself'), and punctuation errors like lowercase 'i' used as a personal pronoun throughout. Additionally, the sentence structure breaks down completely at the very end of the text. These frequent errors cause some difficulty and distraction for the reader.
