Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to request help from you regarding my an important documents which i forget at your hotel during my last visit on Sunday. I would be grateful if you could provide me assistance to find it.
Firstly, I would suggest you that look at the side table of bed. This information would help me to find out easily because i kept there at last minute.
Furthermore, I would appreciate your efforts as documents are very crucial for me. My carreer depends upon it. All my study and practical skills certificates are included.
Finally, I would be grateful if you could deliver it to my adress which is already in your system. Thank you for considering my request.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Manpreet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three required points: you identify the bedside table as the likely location, explain that the papers contain certificates important to your career, and ask for them to be delivered to your address. The purpose is clear and the details are relevant. The explanation of importance is present but brief, and the request could be more fully specified—for example, asking the manager to check the room and contact you if the papers are found. The response is also 19 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop these points. The clear coverage of the task is a strength; fuller explanation and a more explicit action request would make the letter more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: you introduce the problem, suggest where the papers may be, explain their importance, and make a request. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and the closing is appropriate. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “Finally” make the sequence easy to follow, although they can feel somewhat formulaic for a short personal letter. The reference in “This information would help me to find out easily” is not fully clear, and “it” is used for documents that are plural. Aim for more natural links between ideas and make references explicit—for instance, refer directly to “the bedside table” and “the papers.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary to communicate the situation, including “crucial,” “career,” “certificates,” and “deliver.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond very basic wording, and the reader can understand why the papers matter. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “my an important documents,” “provide me assistance,” “carreer,” and “adress.” “Study and practical skills certificates” is also unclear as a description of the documents. Use natural combinations such as “help me locate the documents” and “my academic and professional certificates,” and check spelling carefully. A more precise range of vocabulary would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple sentences and some more developed structures, including “I would be grateful if you could…” and “because I kept there at last minute.” The main message remains understandable, and the letter includes appropriate request forms. Some grammatical errors persist, however: “I forget” should be “I forgot” or “I left,” “I would suggest you that look” needs a different clause structure, and “documents are” is followed by singular “it.” There are also errors with articles and sentence construction, as in “at last minute.” Practise accurate past-tense forms and conditional request patterns, and check that pronouns agree with their nouns. These corrections would improve control while preserving your clear meaning.
