Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the main purpose of the letter and include all three requested points: you identify the papers as left on the table near the bed, explain that they are important and difficult to replace, and ask hotel staff to check the room and send them to your home. However, these points are only briefly stated, so the reason for their importance and the circumstances of your stay are not developed. The request could also be clearer and more complete, for example by offering contact details or asking the manager to confirm whether the papers are found. The response is 93 words, below the required 150, which limits how fully you can explain the situation. Expand each point with relevant details while keeping a polite, formal tone.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a generally understandable order: you explain why you are writing, say where the papers may be, describe their importance, and make a request. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. However, the ideas are compressed into one block, and the links between them are sometimes abrupt, as in “This papers are very important for me” followed immediately by the location. Use separate paragraphs for the situation, the papers’ importance and your request. A few clear linking phrases, such as “I believe” and “As these documents are difficult to replace,” would make the progression smoother. The closing is present, but a more conventional sign-off would help the letter feel complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the central message, including “papers,” “important,” “room,” and “home address.” However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the letter difficult to read, such as “docoments,” “essy reeisshu,” “requst,” and “chak.” Some expressions are also unnatural for a formal hotel letter: “I am writing letter for tell you” and “I hope you helped” do not convey the intended meaning smoothly. Choose accurate, task-specific phrases such as “important documents,” “difficult to replace,” and “I would be grateful if you could check.” Careful proofreading of spelling and collocations would make your message clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Your response relies mainly on short, simple statements, with little variety in sentence structure. There are frequent errors in sentence formation and verb forms, for example “I am writing letter for tell you,” “I forget my papers,” and “I hope you helped and understand me.” Articles, agreement and plurals also need attention: “This papers” should be “These papers,” and “in your hotel room” needs clearer sentence punctuation. These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the message, although its general meaning remains recoverable. Practise forming complete sentences with a subject and correctly conjugated verb, and use past tense for the stay and the act of leaving the papers. Then add a few accurate clauses to explain the request.
