Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to inform you that I forget my documents in your hotel during my stay.
Last night, I was in your hotel in room no.576B. In the morning, I wake up late and pack my luggauge quickly because I have to checkout. Due to this rush I left my file on the bed side draw.
This file have very important papers in it. I have to submit this papers to my office tommorrow. If I am not able to submit this on time my job will be in danger or may be I will face some serious consicious.
I would really appreciate if your team will send me this document by quick mail service. I will take care of all the charges. Let me know where I can send the money. I attach all my details with this letter for verification purpose.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Manisha Rahar

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 8.0
The letter covers all three required points clearly. You identify the likely location as “the bed side draw,” explain that the papers must be submitted to your office the next day and that your job could be at risk, and request that the hotel send them by express mail, offering to pay the charges. These details make the purpose and urgency clear, and the formal opening and closing suit the situation. To make the response even more complete, specify how the manager can contact you or where the papers should be sent; “I attach all my details” is not specific enough for the manager to act on. Overall, the key ideas are relevant and well developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.5
The information follows a sensible sequence: you explain why you are writing, describe your departure and where the file was left, establish its importance, and then make a request. Paragraphing also separates the main stages of the letter effectively. Linking phrases such as “Due to this rush” and “If I am not able to submit this on time” help show cause and consequence. The progression is clear, though some connections could be smoother: “This file have very important papers in it” begins a new paragraph without a particularly natural transition, and the final request for payment details is not fully connected to the claim that your details are attached. More precise referencing and transitions would make the cohesion less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the situation, including “documents,” “submit,” “verification,” and “charges.” However, the range and control are limited by several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “luggauge,” “tommorrow,” “consicious,” and “quick mail service.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “bed side draw” and “send me this document by quick mail service” do not sound idiomatic. These choices may make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning remains understandable. Aim to learn accurate collocations for hotel correspondence and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes a few attempts at complex sentences, for example, “If I am not able to submit this on time my job will be in danger,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make the reader work to understand the message. Examples include “I forget my documents” instead of a past-tense form, “I wake up late” in a past narrative, “This file have,” and “I have to submit this papers.” There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “I would really appreciate if your team will send me.” Use consistent past tense for the hotel stay, check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and revise requests into a correct pattern such as “I would appreciate it if your team could send…”
