Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is universally acknowledged that education system is not as effective as government nowadays. The group of folks hold the view that instead of offering practical knowledge, they spend precious time on teaching facts, which seems irrelevant. I partially concur with the statement.

On the one hand, it has been observed that, especially in developing nations. Schools show more emphasize on detailed knowledge including social science in which learners will be acquired wisdom of historical events. Such subject is paramount as children should be aware with their cultural facts. However, it might be not useful for skilled jobs. To exemplify, the study of Oxford highlighted the shortage of skilled workers in India due to the popularity of Arts subjects. What is more, teaching such subjects could be helpful in term of comprehending the human bodies and other phenomenon. Eventually, students may secure employments as mentor if they have theoretical knowledge.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that school curriculum in developed countries are completely different as compared to emerging economy. The system usually focuses on hands-on experience due to the requirements of white-collar workers. Hence, the small children of foreign nations, understandably, are more intelligent than other young ones. They are permitted to utilize smart devices including laptops, tablets in classroom to understand the content when they face challenges.

To recapitulate, after carefully consideration of both judgments, it should be noted that what should be taught first, practical or theoretical is varied by nations. Hence, I believe that balanced approach should be accounted for the betterment of children growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention the importance of cultural knowledge and the need for practical skills, the arguments are occasionally vague. For instance, the claim that children in foreign nations are 'more intelligent' is a broad generalization that lacks sufficient supporting evidence. To improve, ensure that your examples are more specific and directly linked to the core argument of balancing theoretical and practical education. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the body paragraphs could benefit from more depth to fully explore the implications of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To recapitulate' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the logical flow within paragraphs is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the discussion of historical events and the example of skilled workers in India. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help achieve a more natural flow and better cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'universally acknowledged,' 'paramount,' and 'curriculum.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'show more emphasize' (should be 'place more emphasis') and 'secure employments as mentor' (should be 'secure employment as mentors'). Additionally, 'folks' is too informal for an academic essay. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary choices are consistently formal and accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder readability, such as 'education system is not as effective as government' (missing articles) and 'after carefully consideration' (should be 'careful consideration'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, prepositions, and word forms. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help elevate your score in this criterion.
