Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some people argue that from primary school to university, a majority of educational authorities spending too much time for teaching theoretical knowledge while paying insufficient attention to practical capabilities. I partially agree with the given statement, as along with bookish knowledge, practical skills play a pivotal role for learners' personal and professional growth.
On the one side, learning facts during school time brings tremendous benefit for the pupils. For instance, having in-depth information about numerous subjects like Science, Mathematics and history access them to gain wider details which they can use in order to get good grades in the exam. Moreover, solving difficult formula has profound impact on thinking capacity and foster them to inculcate problem-solving skills and critical thinking. For example, most of complex calculation required background information about various rules and advanced techniques for solving them. Therefore, they need to pay more attention to learning facts.
On the other hand, students cannot neglect the importance of practical skills for dealing with real-life situations. Along with theoretical concepts, practical work experience play a crucial role for development of capabilities to cope with unforeseen consequence at workplace. For example, doctors required clinical exposure during their university time, which access them to inculcate good communication, cooperation and teamwork skills for their bright career in the medical field. Hence, practical capabilities are equally important as theoretical concepts to deal with patients and overcome their problems by providing them accurate treatment.
In conclusion, a balanced approach would be beneficial for students' overall growth and well-being, as spending equal time for practical capabilities and facts access them to improve their personal and professional skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all parts of the task by presenting a clear position and supporting it with relevant examples, such as the medical training illustration. Your argument is balanced, acknowledging the value of theoretical knowledge while advocating for practical skills. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully extended. For instance, while you mention that theoretical knowledge helps with grades, you could further explain how this translates into long-term societal or economic benefits. The response is well-structured and maintains a consistent position throughout, which is a key requirement for a Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one side', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing. For example, the phrase 'access them to gain' is used repeatedly and incorrectly as a cohesive link. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pivotal role', 'inculcate', and 'unforeseen consequence'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'access them to gain' is an incorrect usage of the verb 'access' in this context, and 'solving difficult formula' should be 'solving difficult formulas'. While you attempt less common vocabulary, these inaccuracies prevent a higher score. Focusing on correct collocations will help you achieve a more precise and sophisticated tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('educational authorities spending' should be 'educational authorities spend'; 'doctors required' should be 'doctors require') and awkward phrasing. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed with grammatical precision.
