Student answer (Band 7.0)

A number of citizens believe that in all stages of studies from primary school to higher education institutions, a lot of time is invested on learning data and not enough on studying practical skills. I strongly agree with this statement. I will elaborate this in the upcoming paragraphs.

Starting from the initial stage of learning, children are taught to study everything from the books. No realistic knowledge is provide to them. This is where an enormous change is needed. Instead of bookish learning, a practical education should be provided. Furthermore, at senior school level again this repeats. For instance, in high schools while studying subjects like Chemistry, Physics only theoretical information is given. No practicals are practiced by the students. Which later in life creates hurdles in understanding of concepts when they pursue higher education.

Moreover, at university level as well this concept continues. Pupils only gain data and figures in place of working on a actual real life project. To explain better I would like to take example of sports, which is a subject of physical education rather than what a person can learn from the text. A student will understand more when game like football is instructed on the field ground instead of focusing on what is available or written in the textbook.

As far as my opinion is concerned, I believe that working on a real life project should be given more priority than learning from knowledge provided in the books. So much time is invested in studying facts rather than practicing useful skills. Additionally, education system should indulge more coaches with practical knowledge instead of theoretical understanding. This is the most effective way to secure a brighter future for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the essay. You address all parts of the prompt by discussing primary, secondary, and university levels of education. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples like Chemistry and sports, the explanation of why these changes are necessary or how they would specifically improve the education system could be more deeply explored. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more nuanced reasoning rather than repeating the same point about 'bookish' learning in each paragraph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'As far as my opinion is concerned' to link your ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more varied. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs feels slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows naturally into the next will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'higher education institutions' and 'theoretical understanding'. However, there is a reliance on simpler vocabulary, and some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'indulge more coaches' (where 'employ' or 'incorporate' would be more appropriate) and 'field ground'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, 'No realistic knowledge is provide to them' should be 'provided', and 'in place of working on a actual real life project' should be 'an actual'. Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for small errors in verb forms and articles.
