Student answer (Band 6.5)
Do and learn is what I believe is the key to success, and we have a lot of examples who have succeeded in their life by having good practical knowledge. Some people say that more practical skills should be included in all levels of education than learning theories and facts. I totally agree with this statement because without seeing or doing anything practically, no one can fully learn anything in their life. There are a plethora of reasons for this, and in this essay, we will discuss a much broader view for why more practical should be included in the academics than learning facts.
Rote learning will not always help children to improve their cognitive skills, because facts and figures are helpful to just by heart things. In order to understand any subject, we should choose the aspect of doing and learning things from childhood. Ideas are always generated from having practical knowledge and by knowing the physical significance of what we learn. Therefore, more number of practical or do it yourself sessions must me included in academics from primary schools to universities than just teaching theories. For example, learning physics without practicing and knowing its significance will make the students more confused. To be more precise, learning refraction without actually experiencing it practically with the help of a lens is literally of no use for a growing brain.
However, theories are equally important and in fact, there are some students who are bright enough to understand things by just learning facts. Some still argue that students will learn things practically while they get into their professional life and it is not necessary to have practical skills in schools, because not everyone is going to apply it in their life.
To conclude, it is very evident that including more practical's than just learning facts and figures will help children to have acquire good knowledge of a subject that they learn, while some say otherwise because they think that children learn things when they get a job. I strongly believe that practical sessions are equally important to theories, and more number of do it yourself session must be included in one's academics.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments, such as the importance of cognitive development and the limitations of rote learning. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the point about 'doing and learning' is restated in the introduction, body, and conclusion without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than reiterating the same concept. The example of physics is a good start, but it could be further elaborated to explain how practical application leads to deeper long-term understanding.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Therefore', and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is a bit abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is generally clear, but some sentences are slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cognitive skills', 'academics', and 'significance'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'more number of practicals' (which should be 'a greater number of practical sessions') and 'by heart things' (which is an idiom, but 'memorize' is more appropriate for academic writing). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the phrasing is occasionally awkward or informal. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic terminology to express your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'must me included' (typo for 'be'), 'have acquire' (incorrect verb form), and 'more number of' (incorrect quantifier usage). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with article usage and pluralization (e.g., 'more practicals'). The errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor slips would significantly improve your accuracy.
