Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely argued that all kinds of academic learning is more focused on theory than practical skills. Personally, I support later viewpoint.
To begin with, most of study has based on lot of theory based curriculum. Form the young age, children have to memorize mount of information to earn certification. For example, many countries, especially, developing nations' education system still based on memorizing books than the practical knowledge. Consequently, even though a large number people have completed study but they are still not able to compete with practical learners in job market.
Another fact is that education system which was created in past century still working in many nations. This was created to according that time but now it demanding change as more practical activities should be included. For instance in past time there is less sources than today and most of jobs were clerical. Nowadays, without learning practical skills, education system may lack to compete to upcoming era.

In conclusion, practical skills are way more beneficial than theoretical knowledge because people who learn practically have more chance to learn and pursue a better career in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that memorizing facts is problematic and practical skills are beneficial, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the mention of 'Science projects' is a good start, but it is not fully developed to show how this translates to broader educational success. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough explanation of the 'why' and 'how' behind your claims, rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Another fact is', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing or missing articles (e.g., 'For the young age'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'most of study has based on lot of theory' and 'time consumable'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with accurate word forms. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic terminology. Avoid repetitive phrasing and ensure that your word choices are appropriate for a formal essay context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently omit articles (e.g., 'from primary schools', 'in past time') and struggle with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency (e.g., 'education system which was created... still working'). These errors are frequent and occasionally make the reader work harder to understand your meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic grammar rules, particularly article usage and verb tenses, and proofread your work to catch these common slips.
