Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that a significant amount of time is spent on education by students rather than learning practical skills. I largly agree with this statement because nowdays students become bookworms and suffer from stress due to excessive academic burden.

One of the main reasons why students do not have enough time to learn other activites. Not only in schools but also in universities learners have a lengthy syllabus, which does not allow them to improve their other skills ,and they have to complete their curriculum within a given time period in order to achive good marks in exams. Another reason is that it is often observe that students suffer from stress as they devote more time to academic subjects instead of learning practical skills, which are crucial for them. For example, in India although students spend around 9 to 10 hours at school , teachers assign extra home work to them, which they need to complete after school. Hence, students become book wormer ,and not taking a part in other activites.

Nevertheless, students still have time after school to improve their practical skills. As they can learn cooking skill from their mothers ;however, they spend their free time on using social media ,and they have chance to take part in other activites when they have vocation from their educational institute. For instance, in Canada, schools close from july to september month ,and students often take admission in school called summer school where they learn different kinds of skills according to their own intersest. Therefore, students should utilize their lesuire time in a meaningfull way .

In conclusion, while students can work on practical skills during their vocations, they have a lenghty syllabus to complete within a year to pass their class.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position and providing reasons for your agreement. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide relevant examples, such as the Indian school system and Canadian summer programs, the explanation of how these relate to the core argument could be more nuanced. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as it restates the problem rather than reinforcing your final stance. To improve, ensure that your supporting arguments directly address the 'too much time on facts' versus 'practical skills' dichotomy more consistently throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Nevertheless', 'For instance', and 'Therefore' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by punctuation errors, such as the placement of commas before conjunctions. The referencing is generally clear, but the structure of the second paragraph is slightly fragmented due to the sentence fragments used as explanations. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help elevate your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'curriculum', 'syllabus', and 'meaningful'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word-choice errors, such as 'book wormer' instead of 'bookworms' and 'take admission' instead of 'enroll'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'largly', 'nowdays', 'activites', 'achive', and 'lesuire'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage and careful proofreading to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement, article usage, and punctuation. For example, 'it is often observe' should be 'it is often observed', and 'not taking a part' should be 'do not take part'. The misuse of commas and the occasional run-on sentence structure impact the overall accuracy. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound before attempting more advanced structures.
