Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is often argued that all educational institutes focus on academic learnings, whereas others believe that maximum of time should be spent on learning practical skills and hand-on experience. I strongly agree that universities or schools should devote most of the time to learn new technologies through practical practices because it will be beneficial for all ages students and will also benefit society as a whole.
The primary reason why majority of time in higher education learning should be spent on practical skills because it ensures equal opportunity to students who are professionally trained and who just graduated. Most of the students who are talented and have graduated with distinction marks often don't get jobs easily as they lack professional experience. If schools provide professional experience within learning environment during a term session, then students will be assessed according to their potential and ability to work rather than just academically. For an example, all people will have same opportunity to get selected in an interviews as that of experienced individual.
Another compelling reason is that all professionally experienced people, through work or school, could contribute to the economic stability, science innovative and especially improvement of essential public services. Although it might be difficult and would put a financial burden on governments in arranging all the equipment and technical machines, this should be regarded as a long-term investment rather than an initial cost. For an instance, recent graduates would easily get recruited with university experience, getting high salaries and paying taxes which would eventually benefit society.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that contributing substantial amount of time to learn technical skills practically would assist students and a society to grow professionally and economically respectively. Although, a reasonable amount will be spent, it should be seen as a long-term investment rather than the initial spending.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have identified the core issue—the balance between academic facts and practical skills—and provided relevant arguments regarding employability and economic benefits. The ideas are extended with examples, such as the mention of graduates struggling to find jobs despite high marks. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully developed; for instance, the link between 'science innovative' and practical skills could be explained in more detail. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you use cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'Another compelling reason', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrasing 'all people will have same opportunity' which lacks a clear link to the previous sentence. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas, contributing to the overall clarity of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'economic stability', 'long-term investment', and 'professional experience'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'academic learnings' (should be 'academic learning'), 'practical practices' (redundant), and 'science innovative' (should be 'scientific innovation'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary would further strengthen your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'maximum of time' (should be 'the maximum amount of time'), 'all ages students' (should be 'students of all ages'), and 'For an example' (should be 'For example'). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and pluralization. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout, and the sentence structures are generally controlled. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences would help improve your score in this criterion.
