Student answer (Band 6.5)

A growing number of people believe that educational authorities are spending more time on theoretical concepts instead of practical sessions. However, I partially agree with the statement, as putting more emphasis on essential subjects play a pivotal role in order to provide learners more academic information to get good grades in their exam, whereas, leaning practical skills prepare the students for the real life problems and would be best for their overall growth.

On the one hand, contributing more time behind learning facts prove as an effective tool to clear important topics of their study. For example, mathematics, history and science subjects demands more time and energy to understand the complex formula, remember information about past events and activities during their school or college time. Moreover, putting importance on memorization of educational concepts allows the students to pass their exams with higher marks and get admission in their desire filed for their bright future. Therefore, it would be beneficial for them to spend more time on learning facts for their successful career and understand the tricky topics of career-oriented subjects.

On the other hand, practical knowledge and capabilities also important for the pupils in order to deal with real life situations. Such as, doctors have to learn about how to treat the patients during their clinical posting, as only bookish knowledge is unable to develop essential life skills like good communication, cooperation, critical-thinking and teamwork for building healthy relationship with their clients and encourage them to follow the treatment plan and

create doctor's professional image in front of their staff and patients. Therefore, both factual knowledge and practical skills must be needed for their best outcome and build successful future in their desirable field.

In conclusion, a balanced approach would be advisable in order to prepare the learners for the unforeseen consequences, developing important capabilities to cope with daily situations and getting good grades in the academic tests.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by providing a clear position and supporting it with relevant examples. Your introduction establishes a balanced view, and the body paragraphs explore both sides of the argument. The example of medical training is particularly effective in illustrating the necessity of practical skills. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting ideas are fully extended; for instance, you could elaborate more on how the current educational system specifically fails to integrate these skills, rather than just stating that it focuses on facts. Overall, the response is well-focused and maintains a consistent position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and sentence flow, such as the incomplete sentence at the end of the third paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that your referencing (e.g., 'such as', 'these') is always precise to improve the overall flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pivotal role', 'theoretical concepts', and 'unforeseen consequences'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations, such as 'contributing more time behind learning' (should be 'spending more time on') and 'desire filed' (should be 'desired field'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, you should aim to incorporate more precise, less common lexical items to demonstrate a higher level of sophistication. Avoid repetitive phrasing and ensure that word choices are contextually accurate to enhance the professional tone of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive feature. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('subjects demands' instead of 'subjects demand') and minor prepositional errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to verb forms and pluralization. Additionally, ensure that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly to maintain clarity. Focusing on proofreading for these small, recurring errors will significantly improve your accuracy.
