Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believes, education system focuses more on teaching facts rather than skills which are required in day to day life. I believe, as a part of learning both theoretical and practical knowledge is important.

To began with, education has changed drastically in these years. I suggest, in the early part of schooling as well as college, students should be taught basic theory. This is because. it helps them understand the foundation of the course that they would be learning for few years. As a result, they might be more successful and also have better understanding in their area. For example, many students fail the course in the initial terms. Since, they do not have proper theoretical knowledge. Therefore, It is necessary to make them familiar with facts in the initial years.

Another important situation is that, students struggle to perform their required task at work. Since, from childhood they are forced to remember the facts. This has created an issue for them to be able to work practically during their actual job. As a result, they feel demotivated and left-behind. For example, in a case study done on students of different age groups. It was recorded that many of them struggled doing their task. That was taught to them recently during the lectures. Moreover, this lack of knowledge should be filled right from very young age. This can be enhanced by both practical and theoretical teaching techniques.

To conclude, I agree skills play an important role in one's life as it helps in their daily work. Although, without proper understanding of the theory. It can be dangerous for them as well as others at workplace.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the balance between theoretical facts and practical skills. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you present a clear position, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the example regarding a 'case study' is vague and does not provide specific, illustrative detail to support your point. To improve, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported idea rather than restating the same concept. The conclusion is brief and could more effectively synthesize the main points discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or incorrect. For example, starting sentences with 'Since,' or 'This is because.' creates fragments that disrupt the flow. Additionally, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is slightly abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') and ensure that sentences are connected smoothly rather than relying on repetitive structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good,' 'important,' and 'facts.' There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'To began with' instead of 'To begin with.' To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to education and professional development. Using more sophisticated synonyms will help demonstrate a better command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently use sentence fragments, such as 'Since, they do not have proper theoretical knowledge.' and 'That was taught to them recently during the lectures.' These errors occur throughout the text and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Furthermore, there are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Some people believes.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for punctuation errors, particularly the misuse of periods where commas or conjunctions are required.
