Student answer (Band 6.0)

Education is a backbone to the society and it is a doorway to success. Concerning with this, some proponents of the society reckon that all education levels especially from alma maters to universities, students take prolong duration to learn facts instead of learning practical skills. From my perspective, the aforementioned statement has both agreements and disagreements which are justified in the subsequent paragraphs.

To commence with, the individuals who belong to the primary schools have much focus on spending time to learn facts because they want to clear the base concepts. To explicate, most of the juveniles broadens their horizon by learning complex concept by investing too much time on such thing. To cite an example, science subject like chemistry requires more erudition before doing any practical's as a small mistake can lead to a fatal consequence. Therefore, they spent little less time on learning practical skills.

On contrary, universities students spent more time on learning practical skills because at that time they want to posses some real life exposure. To explain it in detail, in primary level they got encountered with every basic concepts, however universities has more equipment's on which one can perform real life experiments which plays a pivotal role in their life. To exemplify, medical students in their earlier stage learn all the concepts impeccably but when they take admissions in universities they got a chance to shape their skills by learning practical skills on dummy bodies to perform medical surgeries and likewise for the engineers who learn coding as a practical skills.

Conclusively, I ponder that some agreements to clear base concepts students take too much time on giving attention to learn facts. Nevertheless, I negatively assert that during their university level they have shifted their view to gain more practical skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the balance between facts and practical skills. However, the position is somewhat inconsistent; the introduction suggests a balanced view, but the body paragraphs focus on primary versus university levels rather than a clear argument about whether 'too much' time is spent on facts. The development of ideas is present but lacks depth. For instance, the example of chemistry is relevant, but the explanation of why this necessitates a focus on facts over skills could be more nuanced. To improve, ensure your position is clearly stated and consistently maintained throughout the essay, and provide more detailed justifications for your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'On contrary', and 'Conclusively' are used to signal the structure. However, some transitions are slightly awkward or misused, such as 'Concerning with this' in the introduction. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical rather than natural. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help elevate the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though there are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations. Phrases like 'Education is a backbone to the society', 'prolong duration', and 'negatively assert' are unnatural. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary (e.g., 'erudition', 'pivotal', 'impeccably'), but these are not always used with precision. Spelling and word formation errors, such as 'equipment's' (pluralization error) and 'practical's', also occur. To reach a higher band, focus on learning natural collocations and ensuring that vocabulary is used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('universities has more equipment's') and incorrect preposition usage ('Concerning with this'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in article usage and pluralization. While the writer attempts complex sentences, they are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
