Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that the modern institutional education is excessively focus on theoretical knowledge rather than practical skills. In my opinion, while the factual information makes academic baseline, practical training plays a crucial role in terms of maintaining balance to prepare the students for future workplace settings.

On the one hand, acquiring the theoretical knowledge is extremely indispensable for the cognitive development. Students cannot master the complex concepts without a solid learning facts. For example, the medical students needs to understand the anatomical data before they can perform real life surgeries. Therefore, academic knowledge acts a necessary factor for practice.

On the other hand, over emphasis on the memorization leaves the graduates unprepared for the job market. Many universities produce top tier graduates which face the struggle in real time in basic problem solving or teamwork due to the lack of practice. If the institutions provides the project based learning it will helps the learners to achieve the balance in learning and practical skills and runs the careers in smooth manner. For instance, instead of rote memorization , students should be prepared to perform in educational seminars which boost their confidence and increase their interpersonal communication skills and allow them to learn through practical training.

In conclusion, Education should not only favour one approach over other. A Successful education system must carry both the theoretical facts with real world applications to create a well rounded individuals which are able to perform their duties with full strength and attain development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the essay falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which impacts the development of ideas. While the arguments regarding theoretical knowledge versus practical skills are relevant, they could be expanded with more detailed examples to fully satisfy the requirements of a Band 7. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development is somewhat constrained by the length. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more comprehensive exploration of the topic to meet the word count and provide deeper analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Therefore' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For instance, the sentence 'If the institutions provides the project based learning it will helps the learners' lacks smooth integration. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the overall progression could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'cognitive development' and 'interpersonal communication'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'excessively focus' (should be 'excessively focused'), 'academic baseline' (unclear meaning), and 'runs the careers in smooth manner'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited control over more complex lexical items. Expanding your range of collocations and ensuring accurate word forms will help improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the medical students needs' (should be 'need'), 'academic knowledge acts a necessary factor' (missing 'as'), and 'the institutions provides' (should be 'provide'). While the meaning remains clear, these frequent errors indicate a lack of consistent control over complex structures. To achieve a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed without errors.
