Student answer (Band 7.0)
Schools play an indispensable role in shaping students for better future. While some people argue that educational institutes place greater emphasis on learning facts and theory rather than practical skills, I partially agree with this view because, although learning facts can help to make students' fundamental concepts stronger, practical qualities are also equally important.
One of the primary reasons why practical skills should be taught in schools is that they help students improve confidence and make them more independent. When educational institutes make it compulsory for students to participate in team sports, they are required to communicate and cooperate with their teammates. As a result, they are more likely to improve their skills such as effective communication, problem-solving and teamwork. In addition, by learning financial management skills at schools, they might not face financial barriers and difficulties in their future, and consequently these skills contribute to improving confidence and self-reliance.
On the other side, facts and academic knowledge also have several advantages. Firstly, learning theory can help students understand fundamental concepts. When learners make their basic stronger about a particular topic, they are more likely to perform confidently in professional environment. For instance, professionals such as doctors and healthcare assistants need to learn human anatomy and physiology. This can be beneficial for them when they treat patients' diseases. Without understanding medical concepts and facts, healthcare professionals might fail to treat patients' illnesses. As a result, theoretical facts should be considered equally essential.
In conclusion, I partly agree that schools should spend more time on learning academic facts than practical abilities. I believe educational institutes should balance between them, Since both areas has their own significance in individuals' lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt by providing a clear position and supporting it with relevant arguments. Your introduction establishes a balanced view, and the body paragraphs provide specific examples, such as team sports for practical skills and medical training for theoretical knowledge. The ideas are well-developed and logically extended. To reach a higher band, ensure that your conclusion does not merely repeat the introduction but synthesizes the main points more effectively. Overall, the response is focused and directly answers the question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and you have used cohesive devices such as 'In addition,' 'On the other side,' and 'For instance' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more varied. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of your argument. To improve, try to use more sophisticated cohesive links to connect sentences within paragraphs more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'indispensable,' 'fundamental concepts,' and 'self-reliance' appropriately. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'make their basic stronger' (should be 'strengthen their basics') and 'professional environment' (which would benefit from an article: 'a professional environment'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the variety and precision of less common lexical items that would characterize a higher band score. Focus on using more precise collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'Since both areas has their own significance' (should be 'have') and 'make their basic stronger.' Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. Despite these, your meaning is always clear, and the errors do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the consistent use of articles, as these are frequent areas for refinement.
