Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, the significant amount of individuals have argued that educational institutes are excessively focused on academic knowledge rather than practical experience. I largely agree with this perspective because students are deprived of abilities, which are essential in everyday life and at the workplace.

To begin with, learning centers are gradually emphasizing on theoretical work and most students spend their life learning formulas, memorizing concepts while doing insufficient hands-on training, which is vital as academic qualification because it is a most effective way to implement rigorous theoretical concepts in real-world to enhance their lifestyle in terms of manage their budge, take more responsibilities and foster problem-solving skills. These qualities can be cultivated by applying them in daily routine instead of recalling information solely. For instance, educators who have a relevant knowledge of their profession are empowered to obtain a decent job because it enables them to manage their resume and finances accurately.

Another supportive reason is improving professional knowledge before going to work place. In other words, when people acquire essential practical experience through internships, work placements or in the labs while performing experiments, they become eligible to handle complexity of tasks before doing an actual job. Despite having theoretical knowledge, companies prefer to recruit an employee with prior experience so that they can work in fast-paced environment and manage multifarious activities simultaneously. To exemplify, practical experience is crucial in engineering and medical fields, embracing immediate challenges to eradicate them promptly before getting worst.

In conclusion, although academic qualification is a foundation of learning profoundly, hands-on experience can not be neglected because it is not only offer to handle practical tasks in day to day lives such as finances but also assist to become master in their skills prior to getting a job.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. Your ideas are relevant, particularly the focus on practical skills like financial management and professional readiness. However, some arguments could be more fully developed. For instance, while you mention that practical skills help in 'everyday life', the explanation remains somewhat general. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are more specific and directly linked to the core argument. Overall, you have successfully responded to all parts of the task with a clear, logical progression of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Another supportive reason', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. Additionally, there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'educators' and 'managing their resume' is somewhat confusing. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'theoretical', 'rigorous', 'multifarious', and 'eradicate'. There are, however, some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'significant amount of individuals' should be 'significant number of individuals', and 'emphasizing on' is incorrect (it should be 'emphasizing'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms to reach a higher band. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it is not only offer to handle' (should be 'it not only offers') and 'before getting worst' (should be 'before getting worse'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are also inconsistent at times. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on proofreading for common errors like verb forms and article usage, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
