Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that in all levels of education, from primary schools to universities, teachers or professors mainly focus on learning facts rather than practical skills. I agree with the statement because in many educational institutions, they do not have sufficient infrastructure to teach practical skills and in additions, many industries hire on the basis of theoretical skills.
The primary reason why I agree with the statement because many institutes may not have labs or lands to perform practical experiments. The subjects such as science and agriculture generally require expensive equipment like test tubes, chemicals and agriculture lands for practical learnings, and schools or colleges often make a little revenue from tuition fees, and mainly depend on the government funds for the infrastructure. They may not receive sufficient entitlement since the government funds are limited and entitled to the other services such as the heath sector, law and enforcement, and transportation. So, they may not afford practical learnings at these levels.
Furthermore, in the fast-paced world, companies are usually hire employees on the bases of their marks in their theory. It is because practical knowledge testing can be time consuming and may not be possible at large scales as this hiring system requires more evaluators which can be expensive. So, they develop a system which short list the candidates more quickly on their percentages. That is the reason, schools or universities prepare their students to score more by teaching facts.
In conclusion, there is no denying that in all levels of education, from primary schools to universities, too much time is spent on learning facts and not enough on learning practical skills, since it is a modern industries demand, and learning facts classroom are affordable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding institutional funding constraints and corporate hiring practices are relevant and logically developed. However, the response could be improved by providing more nuanced examples or counter-arguments to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, restating the prompt rather than synthesizing the main points. Overall, the task is well-addressed, and the ideas are supported with sufficient detail to meet the requirements for a Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'The primary reason', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the final sentence. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure supports the development of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate and appropriate for the task. The student uses some topic-specific terms like 'infrastructure', 'theoretical skills', and 'fast-paced world'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'receive sufficient entitlement' (instead of funding or resources) and 'on the bases of' (should be 'basis'). While the range is sufficient to convey the message clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'many institutes may not have labs or lands to perform' (should be 'land'), 'companies are usually hire' (should be 'usually hire'), and 'short list the candidates' (should be 'shortlist'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication, placing the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
