Student answer (Band 4.0)

Disagree

Do you think all levels of education spend too much time on facts than learning practical skills? Well I do not think so because facts do not make people crazy, screaming and just acting like a maniac because they got hurt.

Firstly, facts don't make people go crazy. Imagine a kid running as fast as they can jumping saying oh my god or this is so cool you'll get it but it's not that fun yes it's amazing but don't act like they have never seen it in life it's reasonable for little kids but no to big kids for sure. This reason is about kids going crazy and hyped up.

Secondly, kids won't scream or shot. Imagine kid shouting in your classroom I sure wouldn't in the class kids won't shout just talk meanwhile outside they disturb other people classes the younger kids will be the loudest like imagine a kid is working on the test you handed out the next second your ears hurt. this reason is that kids will be loud.

Last but not least, kids will act like a maniac when they get hurt or over dramatic. Kids inside are normal and won't get hurt easily hurt other then something dropping on them like a box but outside doin experiment like electric is a different story if a kid touches it they'll over react saying ahh it burns when it didn't even hurt other kids when touched. This reason is how a kid will be over dramatic or a maniac when they are hurt.

In conclusion, facts are enough to teach kids because kids can be crazy, they'll scream and be a maniac or over dramatic when hurt. Do you agree with me?

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0

The response fails to address the prompt effectively. The task asks for a discussion on whether education systems focus too much on 'facts' versus 'practical skills'. Your essay instead focuses on classroom management and children's behavior (e.g., 'kids won't scream or shout', 'kids will act like a maniac'). Because you have misinterpreted the core topic of the essay, the response is largely off-topic. There is no development of the actual argument regarding educational curriculum or the balance between theoretical knowledge and vocational training. Consequently, the position is unclear and the ideas are irrelevant to the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

While you have used paragraphing to separate your points, the logical progression is weak because the content itself does not follow a coherent argument related to the prompt. The use of cohesive devices is very basic and repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Last but not least'). The transition between sentences is often disjointed, and the lack of a clear central theme makes the essay difficult to follow. The conclusion does not summarize an argument but rather repeats the irrelevant points made in the body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on informal and imprecise language such as 'crazy', 'maniac', 'hyped up', and 'stuff'. There is a lack of academic or topic-specific vocabulary related to education or pedagogy. Many phrases are used incorrectly or in a way that sounds unnatural, such as 'don't act like they have never seen it in life'. To improve, you need to expand your range to include more formal, precise terminology suitable for an essay format.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are issues with sentence structure, such as run-on sentences and fragments (e.g., 'Imagine a kid running as fast as they can jumping saying oh my god...'). Punctuation is inconsistent, and there are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and word order. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences that lack the complexity required for higher band scores. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and punctuation before attempting more complex structures.
